Evaluation of the June Hols

It makes perfect sense that once something is going to be over, one should do some reflections and thinking about it. Well, and so since the June holidays is coming to an end soon (and I mean real soon), I should reflect and think about it.

1st Week- Life Science Camp@SAJC: This first-ever 3-day Life Science Camp is a wonderful experience for me. Although I've attended several life science camps before, they are not as interesting as this one. The only pity is the duration. It is too short- only three days. The most interesting part of the camp is the field trip to the Health Sciences Authority and the hands-on practical on transferring mircoorganisms. Given another chnace, I would definitely sign-up for it again.
- SMO@NUS: The paper was a killer, well at least for me. I cannot do quite a lot of questions and I'm quite prepared toget a COP. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful experience and have certainly contributed to part of my academic curriculum.

2nd Week- Church Camp: It's a tradition for my church to hold camps for both children and youths during holidays. This year, we did not go to our usual Desaru Resort in JB. Instead, we spent our nights at Singapore's very own Pasir Ris Resort! This year's camp is much more interesting compared to previous years in the sense that the youth groups get to play the role of caretakers to our younger members and campers. It's a good thing that their parents trust us to take care of their little, precious darlings. During the five days, I've learnt to be more independent and responsible, not only to myself, but also to my "babies".

3rd&4th Week- Study for Common Test: These two weeks were really crucial and I really had no choice but to study and mug for days. Luckily, I'm almost done with studying and now, I only hope that what I have studied remain in my head and not to get expelled out. I believe that if you do your best, God will do the rest.

Hey!!!Guess what? I just bought Avril Lavigne's lastest album-Under My Skin! First, when I heard the songs over the radio and tv, I thought it was about the same as the first album- Let Go...but well, after listening to it, I guess it is not so after all...it has got 12 tracks in all and my favourite song is track no. 9, Who knows. This song is written by Avril Lavigne herself on the unpredictability of life and how we do not know what our future holds for us. It also encourage us to "live today like it's my last day". It push us and encourage us further by saying that "Life is worth living for" and that "there's always a brand new day".

Why do I like this song?
Well, the reason I like this song is because first of all, the lyrics. The lyrics are not only meaningful, but it reflect the reality of life and this world. Although the reality of life is so cruel and that there are challenges we'll have to face and overcome, we should do it with determination and live life fulfillingly and not take the easy way out.
Secondly, the tune of the music is simply fanastic. It is not soothing but it is chatchy! I bet it will keep you awake the whole night! Believe it or not, it is the best buy in this season of the Singapore Great Sale! (P.S: I don't get any commission from the sales of Avril Lavigne's CDs!?Ha!)

Choir philic

I have been a member of the school choir since my secondary school days...In secondary school, it seemed like everyone don't care about the progress of the choir(I don't know the situation now...but it can only be better). Choir time means slacking time or chatting time. Everyone seemed to be doing their own things. It is certainly not difficult to find pple reading or doing their homework and chatting. Well, i myst admit that I was guilty of that too. However, I soon learnt the meaning and the key to become a contributing memeber of the group or club is discipline. Discipline to attend every single meeting or practice. Discipline to listen and carry out instructions. At the end of the day, the take home message is discipline in all aspects. The reason I continue to join choir as a CCA in college is because of the exposure I will get by being part of the choir. Exposure to compettions, to the various performing arts forms and of course the chance to attend performances and to perform for others. However, it did not take a very long time before I realise that SA choir can offer more than what I thought it can. Being a small choir, the members are close knit and everyone seems to know one another quite well. Whenever we are moving from 1 LT to another, we will greet each other with a chirpy smile that will warm our hearts and last fpr a whole day. I think I'm getting choir philic and I don't merely enjoys singing in the choir. It's the company and friends that I truly enjoyed most.
To the choir members out there: Treasure the time we have together and hopefully, we will have the time of our lives and bring choir to a greater heights.

This term has been...

SAJC...the next phase of my life......

Upon entering college life, I've widen my perspective, network of friends, meet new teachers and people and learnt to adapt to new surroundings more quickly than ever. College life has been so far quite hectic(I presume it will get faster next term and next year). Apart the whole new lecture-tutorial system, we are required to do Project Work (which I must confess is a big headache for me!). In addition, we have to support and cheer SAJC on and we also have a whole series of actitivites lined up for us during the holidays (and they expect us to do well in the common test!) Well, despite all these, I like college life(or should I say, SA life?). Well, being a Saint means that we are supportive of our school in all aspects, be it academically or in sporting events. Just last Wednesday, the whole school went to National Stadium to support our scoccer team in the finals with 5-year champhion, VJC. Even in the jaws of defeat, we were still cheering non-stop. This is what I call good sportsmanship and "Saintship"...Maybe it's because of this that we won VJC in cricket this morning to emerge as the "A division" Champhion...No doubt this year has been a good year for SAJC, I hope that we will continue to strive on and pray that the Lord will be merciful to us. Up and on Saints!

Had a long day in school. Work is beginning to pile up...better start working and studying now...Maths lecture test is on next Thursday on Chapter 5 (partial Fractions), 6 (Binomial Theorem) and 7 (Inequalies)...all my favortie chapters! Better do well in it...

Why women cry?

Release of 'O' level results...

Release of 'O' levels results...woke up early in the morning...felt quite stressed out...surprised that i could actually sleep last night...went to school with quite a heavy heart...did not pay much attention in class...watched videos for both chem and bio lectures...went back to St. Margs' at 12.10pm...reached St Margs' and sat in the canteen while waithing for 2pm to arrive...saw laoshi and i think she saw my worried look...that's why she told me not to worry as all of us did very well...i did not believe it and carry on thinking about the worst possible scenairo...finally, it's time to go to the hall...heard a lot of rumours...that half the cohort failed comb hum. and majority of the 4/4 girls scored distictions in English...strange enough, i was quite relieved upon hearing this,,,a huge load off my shoulders...phew! As i sat in the familar hall listening to Mrs Lee's speech, I continued to think about my results...i don't want history to repeat itself...finally, Mre Lee announced the good news...class of 2003 did better than the class of 2002...much better and about 56 of us qualified for the star...top student of the Express stream is Lydia! Expected...she studied hard and really deserved it...the normal stream top girl is Li Peng...But there is also a piece of bad news as well...that we have to pay $25 for the star...chay! As I approached the teacher's table, I was on the verge of breaking down...when i finally reached the table, Ms Siti said:" Don't cry! English distinction...the whole class did well...if you want to cry, cry for joy!" I took my results slip from her and guess what?! I scored 7 distinctions and a B3!!! I was so happy that I can't seem to count my L1R5...so I just tore open the other paper which had my L1R5 score...10 points! I called home immediately and told my mum the good news...my mum told me to relax...haha...Went out with Minsin, Wanwei, Lim Jie and Yuwen to Holland V to eat and went to Minsin's house to play!!!Haha...so fun...went home quite late and when i reached home, i rattle on and on about my results...i'm so glad that history did not repeat itself. After a long hot bathe, i log onto msn and realised that all friends did well and most of them are staying in SA... Finally had a taste of what sweetness is all about and i'll work even harder for the 'A' levels...
Like Mrs Lee always says: If you do your best, God will do the rest

04S51...A whole new beginning

First time meeting my new classmates...well, i must admit that i am not really prepared to start school...well, i'm still in the mood to play...today, marked the first official day of lesson...in addition, i met my new friends and classmates...amos, amy, wee hon, charmine, chim keng, deborah, dennis, doreen, elaine, eva, xing loong, guo xian, yuwen, jocelyn, jia xin, yin jin, louis, marcus, ruth, seetha, sophia, yun feng, nazia, san san, yan liang, wilson, and sue li! C.T is Mr Edmund Koh...a Chem teacher...Attended assembly, house talk, gp and chinese lectures...as today is the first day of lesson, we ended school reasonably early and well, everyone was of course ver happy...

Reflections for orientation...

After going through 5 days of orientation, i guess the saint spirit is already rooted in me...all i hope for is to stay in SA after my 'O' levels results are released...i never had so much fun in my life...really, SA is well known for the bonds among its pple...be it among students or teachers...everyone is so nice at SA...i hope that the friendships we forged will last forever and i'll continue to make new friends...and of course, study hard and do well for my 'A' levels next year and bring honour and glory to my school and in God's name! Thank God for making Saintestralis a success!

Fifth day at SAJC...last day of orientation...enjoyed myself so far...got along really well with ny new friends...Had space time and family time in the morning before breaking up for finale preparation...my og is in charge of the masot and by popular demand, benjamin is izzan's masot...he's going to be izzans' banana man! our og story plot is really hilarious...we came up with it ourselves...so you would have guessed that it must be something ...well, ...different! During breaks, i checked my new class...04s51! same class as yuwen, nazia and deborah...no one from my og is in the same class as me...sad...anyway, finale was fun...izzan won the best banner design award...Saintestralis came to an end at 10pm...8th Jan 2004...I'm never gonna forget this day...

Fourth day at SAJC...Fourth day of orientation...in for another day of fun and wet games...had a seniors meet juniors session as well...there's also the gathering of Christians and Chaplain's hour...learnt some other dance as welll- namely the chicky dance, Achar dance and the Open House dance...Dance...dance and more dance...today's games were more fun and were wetter than yesterday's@ oh yah...I was so tired yesterday that the games we played yesterday were actually gathering clues to solve a mystery... erm... a treasure hunt! Yep, that's right...So, let's just back track a little... after lunch yesterday, Caleb came rushing, in panic, in shock and then all the councillors gathered at the back of the hall...while the emcees tried to divert our attention, it was useless...everyone was looking at the back of the hall, trying to guess what was happening...In the end, Caleb announced that Kenneth had died! For a moment, there was silence...then, Caleb announced that we were supposed to find clues as to how Kenneth had died! Chay!!! It was then that we realised that we were tricked! So, that's how yesterday's games started! After school today, our og went Harbourfront Mac for dinner... Caleb could not join us as the councillors had to clean up the school...poor councillors...

Third day at SAJC...Third day of orientation...prepared for a day of fun and wet games... feel especially recharged after yesterday...played indoor games and dance before lunch...and after recharging at the cafe, we changed and played outdoor games...og 16 is ready and all set to become the best og...i really like our cheers...though the games were wet, they were fun and aimed at building bonds and strengthening friendships...after a short debrief, we all went home, feeling tired...

Second day at SAJC...Second day of orientation...Handed in sub combi form...got to know my og friends better...realised that Benjamin is SAS's top boy for prelims...Melissa and Ke Xin's first choice were not SA but HC...Oh yah...eileen is down with chicken pox... ( hope she get well soon). Played mass games with other spaces, learnt the traditional dance of SA- Lindy Hop! Cool...sang the college song, hymn and the cheers...Had a briefing for finale night...wow, everything is starting to warm up now... I'm really too tired to continue writing...night!
